Storm Rachel knocks out power and causes flooding across the country

Storm Rachel left many communities without power and caused localised flooding overnight. The ESB stressed that safety was top priority and their operatives would work all night to try and maintain power.

AA Roadwatch reported flooding on several roads, including in Cork, Clare and Roscommon. ESB reported power outages in several counties, including Louth, Galway and Wexford. Winds of up to 150km/h knocked down a lamppost, according to Gardaí.

The public has been warned not to interfere with any damaged electrical cables and to report any problems to the ESB, which will do its best to make repairs quickly. Drivers are advised to keep up to date about flooding and potential road closures.
