Taoiseach ‘refines’ comment about workers personally contacting him about extra money in their pay packets

Our hapless Taoiseach, master of cryptic diction and u-turn maestro, has done it again.

Mr. Kenny claimed that a bunch of grateful workers actually contacted him when they saw their first pay packet of the year, amazed at the extra money in their wages following the tax breaks introduced in the last budget.

Such train of thought would imply that Worker A opened up his or her payslip, took a look at the ‘Net Pay’ box on the bottom right corner, raised the eyebrows, and went ‘Gee, I might as well pick up the phone and ring our heroic Taoiseach for a job well done.’

This of course, did not happen. The Taoiseach later admitted that such comments were just a ‘turn of phrase’.

In further wishful thinking, Mr Kenny reiterated his commitment to attaining full employment by 2018, probably because most people will have emigrated by then and there are enough jobs left to go around.
