A 5-yr-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after a stranger pick him up and threw him from the third floor of a shopping centre in front of his mother who was screaming for stranger to stop.

The traumatising and horrific incident happened late Friday at the Mall of America in Bloomington Minnesota, known for being one of America’s biggest shopping centres.

An eye witness said that a man literally walked over to the mother and son, picked up the boy and tossed him as far as he could over the edge of the balcony.

The boy’s mother was screaming as the man came over and begged him to stop as he picked up the boy. Everyone around is understood to have gasped at the awful event taking place. Some eyewitnesses have said that they literally froze and that’s why they couldn’t do anything to help.

The boy landed on the ground hard and lay motionless in a pool of blood as emergency responders rushed to the scene to give the boys CPR. He’s currently in the children’s Minnesota hospital in Minneapolis with his mother by his bedside where it’s understood he is fighting for his life.

A 24-yr-old man was arrested by police on suspicion of assault and reckless behaviour. He’s currently in custody again has been questioned with his identity not being made public at this time. It’s not yet known what his motive was for picking up the defenceless young kid and throwing him over the balcony.

It’s understood that neither the boy or his mother was known to the attacker prior to the incident. Investigators are actively trying to figure out what exactly happened and for what reason.

One eyewitness said that it was nothing short of just pure evil.

It’s understood that before police got there a 60-yr old man tried to restrain the suspect who then turned around and assaulted him before police and security managed to detain him.

The man has been identified  as Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda. He was accused in July 2015 of throwing things off the upper level of the mall to the lower level. He also refused to give his name to police and resisted arrest.
