The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar confirmed on last night’s Late Late Show that the Leaving Cert will be going ahead this summer and that students will sit in classrooms prior to their exams.
Students who were left in limbo as to whether their State examinations were going ahead or not have been left in no doubt that they’re definitely set to sit their exams this summer.
Earlier in the week, the Minister for Education Joe McHugh has confirmed that the Leaving Certificate will begin on Wednesday July 29th.
Speaking in the Dáil this afternoon, McHugh confirmed that the exam is scheduled to start on July 29th unless stated otherwise.
The announcement comes after speculation has grown in recent days that exams were to take place at the end of July.
Minister McHugh said further details about the schedule will be released on the first of June.
