Students in Third level institutions will be able to avail of free condoms from this week under the National Condom Distribution Service.
In a move that will aim to promote sexual safety, the service will now allow institutions to avail of condom dispenser machines from the HSE.
Speaking about the new initiative, the Minister for Health Simon Harris said it is important that all barriers are removed in terms of accessing contraceptives and further information will be provided in regards to sexual health and safety.
Under the new proposals students will be able to have access to condoms free of charge, whilst information leaflets outlining how to use condoms and the importance of using them, will also be provided.
