Over 250,000 people have signed a petition in Australia calling on the annual Sydney fireworks display to be cancelled and the money used to help fight the out of control bushfires.
The Change.org petition said the funds that would normally be spent on the amazing firework display should be redistributed towards the firefighting efforts.
However authorities have confirmed that the fireworks display on New Year’s Eve will go ahead and is needed more than ever with the amount of money it pours into the economy.
