American actor Richard Gere, supposedly devout Buddhist, has disregarded the words of the Dalai Lama who said that Europe must remain European and stop taking in millions of Muslims and Africans and is helping migrants cross the Mediterranean to reach Italy.
The millionaire actor turned activist got a sharp rebuke from Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini who said he should fly the migrants back to Hollywood and let them live in his mansions.
Gere along with the usual NGO’s is appealing to EU leaders to find a port for a marooned ship with 160 migrants on board.
The actor is pictured with the migrants, who are almost all male, handing out food and supplies.
The Italian government have stepped up its efforts to stop illegal migration to their country and are now imposing fines of up to one million euro.
