Tanaiste says Ireland could phase out restrictions in the coming weeks ahead

The Tanaiste Leo Varadkar has suggested that the Government could phase out Covid-19 restrictions in the next couple of weeks.

Speaking today, Varadkar said that although there won’t be immediate lifting of all restrictions he does expect that they will be phased out over time.

The Tanaiste said the country is still dealing with high hospital numbers but there comes a point where we have to move on.

He added that Ireland have had two years of restrictions of where people cannot attend the office or stand at a bar and its something he wants to see phased out.

The Tanaiste also stated that Ireland will look to be more inline with their European counterparts in terms of remaining restrictions but he hopes this coming summer will be different than the two we previously experienced.
