Taoiseach: Emergency supports will be lifted once Covid-19 is under control

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has said that emergency supports will be lifted for businesses and employees once Covid-19 is under control.

Speaking at the Dublin Chamber of Commerce annual general meeting, the Taoiseach said that there would be a gradual lifting of supports once we’ve managed to get the virus under control.

Martin said that the country has been through a difficult year and he is fully aware of the impact that the virus has had on businesses and workers across the country.

However he stated that the Government would only lift supports in accordance with public health guidelines, virus suppression and the vaccine roll-out.

He said that the country would emerge from this once in a century health crisis and the Government wants and is committed to getting our economy moving in the right direction.
