Varadkar: I don’t want to give people dates that I can’t stand over

The Tanaiste Leo Varadkar said that there’s nothing the government can do with logistical problems to do with vaccines. Speaking on IrelandAM, Varadkar said that the government is looking at different avenues to get more vaccines. He said that he didn’t want to give people dates that he couldn’t stand over.

He said that the reason the 100,000 vaccines dramatically fell short was that 25,000 vaccines did not make it to Ireland. He said that the 100,000 figure was only a target and not a promise.

Varadkar said that come April, we’ll see 250,000 to 300,000 vaccines per week being administered. He said that everyone will have their two vaccines taken by the end of September.

He said that he hopes the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will get the green light on March 11th.
