Embattled Enda Kenny is pulling on increasingly scarce strings to cobble together a ragtag government and thus cling to power.
He has also revealed that he will step down as Fine Gael leader if he doesn’t manage to stay as Taoiseach.
With his back against the wall and his enemies inching ever closer, Kenny is reaching out to Independents and smaller parties in a last-ditch effort to remain the boss.
It has also emerged that the decimated ranks of the Labour party may not support Mr. Kenny’s bid, and that they are likely to abstain from the crucial vote on Thursday.
Internal sources say that Kenny is ‘absolutely desperate’, and is reaching out to all who will listen in order to secure their support in exchange for precious first class seats in the gravy train.
