The Taoiseach Micheal Martin has said that the Government will facilitate the Minister for Justice Helen McEntee’s maternity leave.
Speaking about the topic, the Taoiseach said that McEntee will not be put in position where she has to resign and that the Government is doing everything it can to change this.
Martin said that the Government is committed to change and a wider change in general and they working on a introducing a number of different mechanisms.
The Taoiseach’s comments come as the constitution doesn’t currently contain any provisions to allow for maternity leave.
