The European Central Bank (ECB) is said to be reconsidering its refusal to participate in the Oireachtas Banking Inquiry.

ECB president Mario Draghi last month flatly refused to be drawn into contributing to the Banking Inquiry currently underway here, stating that the ECB is only accountable to the European Parliament.

But now, ECB officials are reportedly reconsidering their position.

The Governor of the Central Bank, Patrick Honohan, will attend a hearing this morning.

Mr. Honohan will answer questions on his report on the Irish Banking Crisis, which looks into the tumultuous period from 2003 to 2008.
