Taoiseach says Government jet will not be used to bring ISIS bride Lisa Smith and her daughter back to Ireland

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said the Government’s private jet will not be used to bring alleged ISIS sympathiser Lisa Smith and her two-year-old daughter home.

Mr Varadkar denied the claims after it was rumoured that the Government were considering using the jet to bring Ms Smith and her daughter back to Ireland.

Speaking in the Dáil, the Taoiseach denied such rumours saying they were well wide of the mark, before stating that the Government jet is not used to repatriate citizens.

He also added that the jet didn’t travel to far away regions such as Syria or Turkey.

The Taoiseach’s comments come after it was revealed on Tuesday, that the Government were prepared to bring Ms Smith and her daughter back to Ireland.

However the Taoiseach did stress that a security assessment will be carried out on Ms Smith as the state must make sure that she isn’t a threat to the public.
