Taoiseach says he has made no decision on St Patrick’s Day trip

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin was interviewed on Wednesday on the Last Word where he spoke about a large span of covid-related items.

The main focus was on whether or not Martin was going to “spit in the face of the Irish public”, as some on social media claim, by going ahead with a trip to Washington to meet Joe Biden in the White House on St Patrick’s Day.

It’s understood that an invitation was extended to the Irish government to attend a St Patrick’s Day function, but Martin said that he hadn’t decided yet on whether he’d be going or not even though it was only 5 weeks ago.

There was much uproar on social media after it emerged that Martin was planning on going to America even though the entire country is locked down on Level 5. People are saying that it’s a terrible move in front of the nation who are doing their best to get through lockdown.
