A number of taxi drivers could soon be without a licence after the National Transport Authority confirmed that licences cannot be issued without a valid NCT.
According to RTÉ News, the NTA say they cannot lawfully issue a licence if a driver does not present a valid NCT certificate.
The issue has arisen after the NCT confirmed that the use of vehicle lifts during testing will be suspended amid safety concerns.
It is believed that the issue could effect over 100 taxi drivers as they will be required to renew their licence in the coming weeks.
