The Houses of the Oireachtas have confirmed that the offical bar used by Senators and TD’s has been closed due to a rodent problem.
In announcement made this afternoon the Houses of the Oireachtas confirmed that the bar was immediately shut down after a rat was spotted in the small bar area.
It is understood the bar was immediately closed and will remain shut until the issue is dealt with.
Although it is not known how the rodent made its way into the building, it is thought it may have been disrupted as renovation works costing an estimated €18m are ongoing at Leinster House.
