A father to be who complained that he didn’t get a cup of tea from nursing staff whilst he was waiting on his wife during her 12 hour labour, has been heavily criticised online.
The man who posted his minor complaint via the Dadsnet forum, didn’t get the response he was apparently looking for after a number of fellow members accused him of throwing his toys out of the pram.
In what has been described as an unusual post – the man who said he felt invisible to staff working at the hospital, got more than he bargained for when his fellow man seemingly turned against him and labelled him selfish and lazy.
Writing on the forum the unnamed dad who felt he should have been offered a beverage said: “It was a disgrace and made me feel quite mad, being ignored.”
“All the tax and national insurance I pay and not even a courtesy of a teabag now and then or even just like I had a right to be there supporting my missus.”
“Have any of you experienced same treatment?”
However thinking that he was going to get a great amount of support, the new father got little more than a telling off by fellow dad’s.
In a series of replies a number of dad’s said that he if wanted tea, he should have got it himself.
Whilst others said that he should have been thinking of his wife instead of drawing attention to himself as she was going through a highly stressful situation.
In one response a disgruntled father defended the nursing staff saying: “I didn’t pay my taxes so that qualified midwives and nursing staff could be running around making tea and coffee for perfectly able bodied grown men.”
Whilst another user wrote: “I think you’re perfectly capable of getting yourself a drink while the hospital staff focus on keeping tens of new/imminent mothers and children healthy.”
