The Samsung Fold smartphone will finally go on sale this September, according to the company.
The device has had a troubled history, as the first units sent for customer testing quickly broke, sparking a huge backlash against the company.
The Samsung Fold’s main attraction is that it opens up to become 7.3-inch tablet. Early units broke at the hinge, rendering the device unusable.
Samsung went back to the drawing board and redesigned the hinge mechanism and made other improvements.
The new toy will not come cheap, with starting prices listed as $1,980 (about 1,800e). Samsung will launch the smartphone across a number of ‘selected markets’, but has not yet specified where.
