Teenager praised for his honesty after immediately handing in $135,000 he found beside ATM

A teenager in the US State of New Mexico has been praised for his honesty after he handed in a bag of cash worth $135,000 to authorities.

According to The New York Times the teenager Jose Nunez Ramaniz was credited for his actions after he returned the money which was meant to be put inside an ATM machine.

It is understood Ramaniz found the money which was inside a plastic bag next to an ATM machine at Wells Fargo Bank.

The New York Times that the money was accidentally left behind by a sub contractor who was filling ATM machines in the area.

Speaking to reporters Ramaniz said that he didn’t really consider keeping the money as all he could think what his parents would think especially his mother.

Ramaniz told reporters that if he had returned home with the cash his mother probably would have hit him on the head with her sandal.

He added that he knows that he did the right thing and his parents are proud of him.

However Ramaniz’s act didn’t go unrewarded as he was given $500 towards his college tuition and season tickets to watch the University of New Mexico Lobos football team.
