A teenager sustained serious injuries after being set upon by up to 30 youths wielding hammers in Dublin.
The incident happened in the Baldoyle area of the capital on Tuesday afternoon.
It is understood that the victim suffered fractures to his skull and other injuries to his body.
The injuries, though serious, are not thought to be life-threatening.
There has been a spike in violent incidents in the Dublin area in recent times.
