Tens of thousands of protestors against Canada’s strict Covid’s restrictions have gathered in Ottawa as part of the “Freedom Convoy”.
In a protest that has shocked the world so much that it has received hardly any media coverage, Canada’s truckers have been cheered along the route as they crossed the country, heading towards the country’s capital and the parliament building.
The convoy, which started off as a protest against vaccine mandates, turned into a crusade against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s restrictions which have divided the country and resulted in so many Canadians coming together in this way.
The authorities have rushed to condemn and control the protest, with Canada’s province Nova Scotia outlawing supporters standing by the side of the road to cheer on the truckers.
There has been no sign of Justin Trudeau, was very vocal in his opposition to the convoy before it came close to the city. As soon as the size was known, however, he scrambled out of the city and has been widely criticised for failing to come out and meet the ordinary Canadians who feel their lives and freedoms are being squashed by his fundamentalist views.
