Tesco Ireland issues urgent recall of salt amid fears product is tainted with plastic pieces

Tesco Ireland has recalled a batch of salt due to the possible presence of plastic fragments, reports The Mirror.

The Irish Food Safety Authority issued a salt warning today.

The affected product is Tesco UK table salt in a 1.5 kg package with lot code ‘3200’, reports The Mirror.

It costs €1.25 and is described as: “Cooking salt. Fine and free flowing. Ready for cooking, pickling and seasoning,” reports The Mirror.

The salt, originating in the UK, has been distributed to various Tesco stores in Ireland.

There is a concern that the affected lot may contain small pieces of plastic.

Those who purchased a defective lot are asked not to use it and return it for a full refund.

Supermarkets will display product recall notices at points of sale to warn customers of possible contamination.

The FSAI said: “The above batch of Tesco British Cooking Salt is being recalled due to the possible presence of small plastic pieces. Recall notices will be displayed at point-of-sale,” reports The Mirror.
