There may be plenty of jokes about Irish people enjoying the odd drink or ten, but Alcohol Action Ireland’s figures shows those jokes may well actually be true.
Their study found that the average drinker in Ireland sank 235 cans of beer in 2021 while the average household drank 74 bottles of wine.
It estimated that there was around €116 million advertising across Ireland in 2021. They say they’re looking for more help in relation to alcohol problems and awareness of what drink can do.
