The beautiufl Live crib has reopened this year at Dublin’s Mansion House

Today, children and choirs gathered at the Mansion House in Dublin to attend the opening ceremony of this year’s Live Crib, in association with the Irish Farmers Association, reports RTE.

The live crib is a beloved tradition that was disrupted last year, when the then Lord Mayor had opted for an alternative celebration.

However, this year the event was reinstated at the Mansion House, and the donkey, goat, and two sheep colleagues were settling in for the first day of their two-week stint, reports RTE.

The current Lord Mayor, Daithí de Róiste, expressed his delight in reinstating this beloved tradition.

“When I was elected Lord Mayor of Dublin on 26 June, the most common question to me was “Lord Mayor will you please bring back the live animal crib?”

“It is a Christmas tradition going back over 30 years and it means so much to so many people. I’m delighted to have it back,” reports RTE.
