The Gravy Express plows ahead across the public money-laden Irish political landscape, harvesting cash as it goes. TDs claimed a whooping €583,003.34 in travel and accommodation expenses during March, even though they effectively went to work two days.

New figures just released show that the taxpayer furnished the expenses for all 158 TDs, as every single one of them claimed expenses for March and the end of February, except for Brendan Howlin, Willie O’Dea, and Aindrias Moynihan.

In total, €3.4 million of public money was paid to members of the Dáil and government ministers between the general election and day when the new government was announced, despite none of them actually having a job.
