The Police vs The Public: British mother “on the run” accused of abducting her sons is receiving major support from the public

Police appeal for help in locating mother thought to have abducted her two sons

Police in Nottingham, UK, have reissued an appeal for the public to help located 40-yr-old Samantha Balwin who was last seen nine days ago in Nottingham city.

The police the lady may have been abducted her two sons, 6-year-old Dylan Madge and 9-yr-old Louis Madge.

Police originally issued a missing person appeal on Tuesday, and again on Wednesday last week, they said they are treating the disappearance as an abduction.

Yesterday, Detective Superintendent Helen Chamberlain asked Miss Baldwin to get in touch with police, saying she understood it was a “very difficult time” for her.

“I cannot imagine what you are going through and what you are thinking at this time,” DS Chamberlain said.

“And as a mother of a child of a similar age, I cannot begin to imagine what is happening in your mind.
“I can only empathise with you.”

Ordinarily either in the police in the UK or the gardai here, the public will share missing persons on social media in an effort to help the officers and get the person’s image “out there”, but not so much this time.

The public are siding with Ms Baldwin. They’re saying the likes of “this poor woman isn’t on the run for nothing”, “she obviously is running from someone”, “I hope she can get things sorted soon but I am on her side”.

What’s your thoughts on this situation? Are you with the police or Ms Baldwin?
