Kane Tanaka, who has twice beaten cancer, has witnessed two global pandemics and loves soft drinks, will walk through her hometown of Shime with the Olympic flame this summer.
While Tanaka’s family will wheelchair her for most of her 100-yard leg, the Supercentennial, over 110, is determined to take the final steps herself when she takes the flame in May.
CNN spoke exclusively to Tanaka, who has a new pair of sneakers for the event, a gift from his family for his birthday in January. She said that she’s very excited about the event and is very much looking forward to carrying the Olympic flame.
Always remember, age is just a number!
