Laurence Fox was fired from GB News after on-air comments about journalist Ava Evans on the Dan Wootton Show, and GB News presenter Calvin Robinson was also fired after sharing support for Wootton online, reports RTE.

Actor-turned-politician Fox, who hosts a weekly show on the channel, made a series of personal comments about political correspondent Ms Evans on Dan Wootton Tonight on Sept. 26.

Fox and presenter Wootton, who has apologised, were suspended by GB News after the broadcast, as was Robinson, who hosts an ongoing religion program on the channel.

On Wednesday, GB News confirmed that both Fox and Robinson had been fired and that an internal investigation into presenter Wootton, 40, is ongoing, reports RTE.

A statement from the broadcaster said: “”Laurence Fox and Calvin Robinson were both suspended last week pending internal investigations that have now concluded. As of today, GB News has ended its employment relationship with Laurence Fox and Calvin Robinson. The internal investigation into Dan Wootton continues,” reports RTE.

Fox, 45, has hosted his own weekly show GB News since November 2022, but was appearing as a guest on Dan Wootton Tonight while commentating.

The ruling comes after British media watchdog Ofcom confirmed it had received a total of 8,846 complaints about the broadcast.

Since the broadcast, MailOnline has announced that it has terminated its contract with Wootton, who was a columnist for the site.
