The Republic of Ireland have secured a play off place for the 2018 World Cup with a historic 1-0 victory over Wales in Cardiff this evening.
In a must win game for the boy’s in green Martin O’Neill’s men came out on top at the Cardiff City stadium.
Ireland who have now guaranteed a play off place have once again James McClean thank as his 57 minute strike sealed the victory over the Welsh who are now out of the running.
The result has put Ireland on 19 points which is more than enough to claim one of the eight best runners up spots with Slovakia losing out.
All eyes will now be focused on the draw on October 17th which decide Ireland’s final hurdle on the road to Russia.
