Thousands of residents in the town of Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire, UK have been told to abandon their homes immediately, as a nearby dam is in imminent danger of collapsing.
If the dam fails, a large number of homes and businesses face immediate flooding.
Around 6,500 people must now find alternative accommodation. Authorities cannot tell how long this situation may last.
The dam, built in the early 1930s, has reportedly overflowed due to intense and persistent rainfall in recent days.
