Three people killed and six people have been injured after train derailed in Scotland

Police in the UK have sadly confirmed that three people have been killed after a train derailed in Scotland this morning.

It is understood that six other people have been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries following the crash which occurred in Aberdeenshire at approximately 9:40am this morning.

Officers investigating the say the train which was travelling between Aberdeen and Stonehaven, left the track near Stomehaven following heavy rain which led to flooding.

It is believed that 12 people were on board the ScotRail train at the time of the crash which is being treated as a tragic accident.
