UK sees temperatures of up to 34C for six consecutive days, the first time this happens in almost six decades

The UK is in the grip of a savage heatwave, with temperatures of up to 34C for the past six days in a row, something that the country had not experienced for almost six decades.

The hot weather prompted thousands to flock to beaches and other leisure spots, raising concerns about further spread of coronavirus.

The Met Office has issued a warning as storms are forecast for later this evening.
