Following Labour’s victory in the general election, Taoiseach Simon Harris has stated that it is time for “a great reset” of Ireland’s relationship with the UK, reports RTE.
Speaking at Government buildings, he declared that he would congratulate the new British prime minister, Keir Starmer, on what he called a “comprehensive victory” and that he would speak with him shortly.
Mr. Harris stated that the two nations’ relationship is “deeply consequential” and that the two leaders’ connection is essential, reports RTE.
“Today is about looking forward. It’s about realising the full potential of that relationship between the Taoiseach and the Prime Minister and between our governments. I know that Kier Starmer and I share a desire for it to go from strength to strength. It is time for a great reset,” reports RTE.
