The Government have revealed that the Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, along with the Taoiseach Enda Kenny will actively hold public meetings to discuss the continuing problem of rising motor insurance premiums.
The news comes after the committee was setup last week to investigate the reasoning behind the sudden increase in policyholders premiums.
According to the Central Statistics Office (CSO) motor insurance companies have sanctioned a 38.3% increase in the past 12 months.
The public hearings have been setup in co-ordinance with the current internal investigation which his headed by Committee chairman, John McGuinness, Mr McGuiness has said the committee will fully examine all aspects of the motor insurance industry including how insurance claims were assessed and processed and the costs associated with claims, as well as how effective current regulation was.
