Today’s the day – England lifts its lockdown leaving Ireland behind, including nightclubs with no insistence on proof of vaccination

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has today lifted England’s lockdown

Lockdown was scheduled to end across the UK on June 21, but was pushed back to today which has been dubbed ‘Freedom Day’.

The country has seen a dramatic increase in new Covid-19 infections over the past few days. This increase has been blamed on the prevalence of the Delta (Indian) variant with caution advised as the full reopening occurs.

All restrictions are going to be eased, including full weddings, sports stadiums, no mandatory masks, no social distancing and all shops back open.

Meanwhile in Ireland, many people on social media believe that Dr Tony Holohan, Micheal Martin and Leo Varadkar have their foot on people’s necks in relation to how Ireland’s reopening is going.
