“Too busy dancing” – Uproar on social media as gardai fail to respond to concerned citizens who phoned them 12 times after up to 100 Muslims gathered for Friday prayers

In what can only be described as truly shocking and indeed disgraceful by An Gardai, concerned citizens phoned gardai a total of 12 times but units failed to respond to claims that up to 100 muslims gathered in a mosque on Friday afternoon for Friday prayers.

The 10-minute footage below shows many people flooding out of the mosque in Dublin 8 while Catholics have been arrested and fined for praying in outdoor settings around the country during Level 5 lockdown.

Social media users are saying that the gardai were “too busy dancing”, and that “Drew Harris should be ashamed of himself”.

They’re also saying that gardai are afraid of being called racist if they intervene in a mosque setting but challenge all Catholics who gather to pray together.

The community of Blackpitts, Dublin 8 is outraged and disgusted today after they witnessed what they describe as up to 100 worshipers, with up to 20 of whom are said to be driving taxis, gather at Mosque in their area for Friday prayers.

The Liberal spoke to one of the residents who expressed their shock and anger that the authorities turning a blind eye to the gathering, which regularly sees their cul-de-sac being clogged with parked cars as the Mosque itself has no parking.

The indignant citizen expressed their concern for fares the many taxi drivers may be picking up after their gathering at the Mosque and called out the hypocrisy of the government who is shutting down Catholic churches while allowing large gatherings at Mosques to go ahead without issue.

The Blackpitts resident who spoke to The Liberal explained how most of their own family were prevented from attending the funeral of one of their loved one’s last year due to restrictions and is indignant at the fact that certain minorities are afford special privileges during this lockdown.

Residents in the area are already weary over the local authority granting permission to build an even bigger Mosque in the area.

Recent months have witnessed people being arrested for such things as going for an early morning swim alone on an empty beach and Gardai reacted rapidly and forcefully when a small group of people, mostly pensioners, gathered to pray the rosary at St. Brigid’s grave in Louth.

However, as was witnessed with the recent wave of Black Lives Matter protests and the indeed, the violent “Justice for George” riot in Blanchardstown, Gardai, adopted hands off approaches leading many to ask why certain groups in our society enjoy such special privilege. Watch the footage below:
