The Department of Health have confirmed that three cases of the Brazilian variant have been discovered in Ireland.
In an announcement the Department of Health confirmed that all three cases of the P1 variant are linked to direct travel from the country.
It is understood that all three cases are being monitored by public health teams and appropriate measures and guidelines are being put in place.
The news comes as the variant has been discovered in France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands and Spain in recent weeks.
