Southeast Queensland in Australia has been hit with unprecedented flooding with lives at risk and emergency services under severe pressure.

A volunteer worker died in Coolana while responding to a call for help, according to the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES).

Emergency Services Secretary Mark Ryan said that the body of another man had been found overnight in Stones Corner, bringing the death toll from Queensland flooding to six, including one woman who has been declared a hero while trying to save a family.

The volunteer was traveling with three other SES employees when his vehicle was swept away by heavy flooding.

His three companions were saved from the flood. The SES unit helped a family after flooding threatened to inundate their home.
