Tough guy Ryan to the rescue! Only in Ireland – Army on standby to help with Dublin Airport queues

The government has agreed to a request from Transport Secretary Eamon Ryan that the military be on standby to help with security at Dublin Airport.

Passengers have faced serious security concerns in recent weeks, with many flights missing due to delays.

The daa, which operates the airport, was confident that the current measures are working.

However, he is concerned about the risk of a rise in Covid-19 among his staff and urged the government to put contingency plans in place.

Members of the defense forces receive basic training and can support the daa when needed.

The measure applies to the busy summer period and will not extend beyond August, when the daa should have more staff trained and available to do the job.
