It has transpired that the Athlone couple killed in appalling circumstances of the Tunisia beach massacre, were literally within minutes of leaving for the airport to return home.
Larry (56) and Martina (55) had stayed in their resort in Sousse for a week and were due home that day.
The couple had stayed there many times and had told their own child, Sinead (30) just 24 hrs beforehand that again they had had an enjoyable time over there.
Larry who was CIE bus inspector, is described as an ordinary family man who was well liked by everybody, and his wife as being extremely warm and friendly.
The couple were married for 32 yrs after meeting in 1983 at a dance.
Their funerals will take place in the coming days.
