Galway man Ger Scully, 30, was tragically killed in Australia when his car was hit by an oncoming train.
The accident happened just before 6pm local time on Sunday evening.
Mr. Scully had emigrated some years ago, and had been working in the mines since arriving in Australia. He was due to fly home for Christmas in the near future.
Mr, Scully is survived by his parents Paddy and Bridie, two brothers and two sisters.
