A 28-year-old man has sadly died after he was stabbed in Waterford in the early hours of this morning.
Gardaí say the man died from his injuries after he was attacked on New Street at approximately 3.20am.
The man was quickly taken to University hospital Waterford but doctors were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Gardaí say 35-year-old man was arrested nearby and is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Waterford garda station.
