Gardai in Co Westmeath have sadly confirmed that an 18-year-old man has died after he was struck by a car outside Athlone Institute of Technology this morning.
It is understood the teenager was hit by a vehicle on the Dublin Road in Bonovalley, at approximatley 9:20am this morning.
Although the teenager was quickly rushed to the Midland Regional Hospital, he was sadly pronounced dead at short time later.
Gardai say the driver of the vehicle was uninjured in the incident and an investigation is currently ongoing
