Gardai in Co Longford have sadly confirmed that a young boy has died following a road traffic incident this afternoon.
It is understood that the boy was sadly killed after he was struck by a van shortly after 2pm in Ardnacassa, Longford.
Gardai say the boy was taken to Mullingar Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place.
They added that an investigation is currently ongoing.
