Transatlantic flight forced to divert to Shannon due to medical emergency on board




British Airways flight BA2169, en route from London to Fort Lauderdale in Florida, had to divert to Shannon after a passenger became ill on board.

It is understood that the passenger required urgent medical care, forcing the pilot to land at the closest possible airport.

The aircraft landed in Shannon earlier today and the ill passenger was rushed to hospital.

The flight then resumed its original route.
