The Minister for Transport Shane Ross has issued a warning message to his fellow ministers saying the future of the state’s national bus service Bus Éireann is “fairly bleak”.
Mr Ross issued the warning early today whilst attending a press conference. Mr Ross told reporters and the heads of Córas Iompair Éireann (CIÉ) and Bus Éireann yesterday that the company could be insolvent within two years and they must discuss the company’s ”critical” financial situation.
It’s believed Bus Éireann had losses of €5.6 million last year. It is also facing issues in relation to a pay claim of up to 21% by employees.
