Hours after being hit by an automobile in County Cork, an elderly woman died, reports The Mirror.
An inquiry has been opened by the Gardai into a tragic traffic accident that happened Saturday, November 2, in Charleville, Cork.
A automobile and two pedestrians collided on Charleville’s Main Street just before 2:00 pm, prompting the response of emergency services and the Gardai, reports The Mirror.
After suffering severe injuries, the two pedestrians—a man in his 60s and a lady in her 70s—were taken to Cork University Hospital.
The female pedestrian was declared deceased at CUH, according to Gardai, while the male pedestrian’s condition is said to be stable.
The local coroner has been informed, and Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have inspected the site. In due time, a post-mortem examination will be carried out, reports The Mirror.
Gardai are still urging anybody who saw the incident—especially anyone who might have dashcam footage of the area at the time of the collision—to get in touch with the police.
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror: “Gardaà are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. They are also seeking mobile phone and dash-cam footage from anyone who was in the vicinity of Main Street, Charleville, at the time of the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact Mallow Garda Station at 022 31450, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any local Garda station,” reports The Mirror.
