Tributes paid to cyclist who died in road crash in Co Armagh

A cyclist has died following a road traffic collision in Co Armagh, reports Breaking News.

Paddy McDonald (62), from Castleblayney in Co Monaghan, passed away after a crash that occurred around 2.20pm on Friday in the Middletown area.

Inspector Cherith Adair from the Collision Investigation Unit confirmed that Mr McDonald was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Police were alerted around 2.20pm to a serious collision involving a car and a cyclist on the Monaghan Road in Middletown,” she said, reports Breaking News.

“Officers attended the scene, along with emergency service colleagues. Sadly, the male cyclist was declared deceased at the location. He has been identified as 62-year-old Paddy McDonald, who was from the Castleblayney area. The road was closed temporarily while officers carried out inquiries, but it has since reopened,” reports Breaking News.

Detectives from the Collision Investigation Unit are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash and are appealing to the public for information.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has dash-cam or other footage that might help with our investigation,” reports Breaking News.
