
Tributes have been pouring in following the unexpected passing of fitness coach Aaron Leonard. A well-known figure in Fermanagh’s fitness scene, Leonard had worked with several gyms and sports teams across the county. In January, he began working as a trainer at KC Fitness in Blacklion, Co Cavan, reports The Mirror.
Leonard passed away on Wednesday and is survived by his parents, John and Mary, and his brother OisÃn. His hometown club, Belcoo GAA, shared: “The club extends its deepest sympathies to the family of Aaron Leonard. His parents John-Martin & Mary, brother OisÃn and wide circle of relatives and friends. May his gentle soul rest in peace.”
Derrygonnelly Harps GAA also expressed their condolences: “We are so sad to hear of Aaron’s passing, a lovely fella. Lots of our members will have memories from school with Aaron, reports The Mirror.
“We extend our sincerest sympathies to his parents, brother and family circle, especially Aaron’s uncle Eamon and family here at Springfield and Monea. May God rest Aaron’s soul,” reports The Mirror.
Erne Boxing Club shared their sorrow in a statement: “Our heartfelt condolences and sympathies go out to the family and friends of Aaron Leonard. Aaron was Rhys Owens Strength & Conditioning coach and worked with him in the lead up to National Elite & Ulster Elite title successes.
“He was highly thought of and much respected by the club’s coaching team and by Rhys Owens. He will be sadly missed. May he rest in peace,” reports The Mirror.
Leonard had also been a trainer at Smart Gym, which paid tribute online. “It is with deep sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Aaron Leonard,” the statement read.
“Aaron was part of the Smart Gym team for a time, and during that period, he made a lasting impact on both staff and members alike. More than just a coach, Aaron brought warmth, motivation, and genuine care to those around him. His energy, kindness, and passion for helping others left a mark that won’t be forgotten. To Aaron’s family and loved ones, we are thinking of you and holding you close in our hearts during this incredibly difficult time,” reports The Mirror.
A gym member added: “Just the most gentle soul you could ever meet and so talented at his job.”
Mr Leonard’s funeral will take place on Saturday, July 26, at 11am in St. Joseph’s Church, Mullaghdun, reports The Mirror.
